Janet Jackson new LP

Janet Jackson Recording Up-Tempo Dance Album

'I'm still gonna keep the beats hard underneath 'cause she's still a dancer at heart,' says producer Rodney Jerkins.

When we caught up with producer Rodney Jerkins on the VMA red carpet in September, he was already hard at work on Janet Jackson's next studio album. Now the super-producer is opening up a lot more on exactly what fans can expect for Janet's 11th studio album.

"Janet is like my sister now," Jerkins told MTV News on Wednesday (October 21) at his Los Angeles recording studio. "We definitely have this incredible chemistry, this bond - I think we musically connect, crazily. I knew it - it's funny 'cause I predicted this. Five years ago, people used to ask me who I wanted to work with, and I was like, 'Janet Jackson.' And I was so passionate about that because I've always been a fan of her music and what her and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have done in the past. And I felt like, knowing she wants to try new things, that I feel I can get it and I can deliver it for her," he said.

DarkChild explained that fans can look forward to an emotionally driven album.

"Since we've been working ... I feel like the studio has become a second home for her because with the whole situation with Michael [Jackson] happening, and I feel like right now, emotionally, she can come here and let all her feelings out. I got her writing again - she has the pen and the pad in her hand."

But it's not just the recent passing of her brother Michael that is fueling the content of Jackson's album. Fans are going to see a side of Janet that they've never seen before, thanks in part to Rodney's persuasion.

"You gotta understand, she lost her brother. She was in a relationship for seven years that's over now. There's things that she told me that I didn't even realize. You know, certain [things] like self-esteem that I didn't even realize that she dealt with for years that you know. ... She's working on her book and she'll deal with that in her book, but also in songs, certain songs we're dealing with that head on. And sometimes it can be a touchy subject for us to even go into, and I kinda had to persuade her, 'Let's just go, let's talk about that.' And she's been doing it, and she's a pro about it."

Although Rodney says you can expect some up-tempo dance tracks on the new album, it won't have the futuristic sound we heard on her last project, 2008's Discipline.

"It's funny, 'cause when we just started the project, she was like, 'I wanna do 10 dance records, all up-tempo to dance. Let's just go dance,' " Jerkins said. The sound is inspired by worldwide influences, from African rhythms to Brazilian and Latin music, and RJ said we can expect features on this album like a Pitbull track that was recorded last week.

"But she hits me today and she says we need to do some mid-tempos as well," Rodney continued. "And I'm glad for that because there's a time when you listen to a record that you wanna mellow out and she always gives us those great smoothed-out mellow records. So now that she's in that zone, it's like 'Yes!' 'cause we can focus on that. But I'm still gonna keep the beats hard underneath 'cause she's still a dancer at heart."

Jenkins and Jackson co-produced her recently released single, "Make Me," which will be included on her greatest-hits compilation Number Ones, due in November. A release date has not been announced for her yet-untitled studio album.

I want another Tattoo

Latin: In universa obscurum nos es totus idem eadem idem , is est tantum nostrum scientia quod sapientia ut singulus nos don't permissum vestri eyes decipio vos.

English: In complete darkness we are all the same, it is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us, don't let your eyes deceive you.

This is the quote I want tattooed on my side...

Janet Jackson "Make Me" remix

Dance

So yesterday I was playing around and said that because I missed the Janet Jackson "Make Me" video auditions my dreams were crushed and after I said that I started to cry. I really hurt my own feelings saying that and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. Maybe I am just that insecure about my career.

I have always wanted to be a dancer for Janet and I guess that I was so upset about missing these auditions I decided to joke about my career and in the end it was a really bad joke. I just wish I had an agent who would have told me about it but I am just going to wait until it is my time in life to shine. One day I will be a dancer for Janet Jackson and  I will be completely happy with life. I just want the chance and when an opportunity passed me by I felt discouraged about my choice to go to school. The fact that I haven't taken a hip hop class in over a year also made me upset because I LOVE hip hop and it makes me soo happy. I need to get my swagg back.

I need/want a JOB!!

Ok so I am a dancer and everyone knows the being an artist is one of the hardest things you could possibly do. But I really want a job dancing NOW! I know that I should finish school and everything but I would much rather be out in NYC or LA auditioning and taking classes. I do know that having an education is a great thing and I am thankful to have my college career but I really just want to make money and dance for as long as possible, then come back to school and finish my psychology degree. But until I get that call from Janet Jackson or Parsons or anyone, you can find me in Pittsburgh during the school year and Atlanta during the summer...

Janet to do The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty reality show?

Janet Jackson to do reality show?

I love Janet, but I really hope that she doesn't do the reality show. One reason is that this will be too much on her plate. It is also a bad image for her with everyone wanting her to have MJ's kids. I get that Janet want's to stay busy but I don't know about this one.

One other thing is that Michael's kids are involved!!

Maybe Janet is only involved with the show to protect the kids from Joe. I really don't like that man!! He has serious issues but that is another topic. Janet is a very smart woman so I am guessing she is only in it to protect the kids as much as she can with all of her new projects unfolding very soon.

Addiction

I do believe that addiction is a part of life. You can be addicted to something that is not bad for you but it is bad in that it consumes your entier being.

I am addicted to many things. Many things that have come from the environment in which I grew up and have stayed with me. The things I am addicted to consists of:

1.) Touch
2.)Love
3.)Janet Jackson
3.)Michael Jackson
4.) Sexual Content
5.)Coffee
6.)Animals
7.)Dance/Movement

Granted none of these are truly demented, I feel that in knowing what things give me the most pleasure in life I can better understand myself and those I "cling" to.
You can be addicted to many things and not let those things control your life. I control how far I take my addictions and I am careful of how I come off to certain people who don't know me as well as my family and very close friends. Don't be afraid of who you are and don't deny your needs as a human because in the end you will only have insanity.

Rehearsal for Pittsburgh Connections

Ok so I have been having rehearsals for my school's November show. Most of the dancers have been amazing but I have been having trouble with one guy. I know that I should just me happy to be in a piece but DAMN!!! This boy is driving me mad and he is my partner (for now) in this dance... I am so not feeling this.

I did however talk to the choreographer about this and she said that she sees my potential and how well I dance and that I shouldn't worry about this. I am still on the fence about this because I don't know how things will turn out in the end... I hope everything turns out great in the end.
